It depends how long before you take the exam! If you are thinking about preparing for the IELTS exam, I would recommend doing some practice exams to become familiar with the exam format and timings, and maybe taking a preparation course to get some feedback on how you can improve your academic writing, reading speed and exam technique.

But if you're thinking of the morning of the exam... some good sleep, a banana and a cup of tea ;)

Now Heather carried the debate to another level. I completely disagree what she said in her message. In my opinion, education should be free for any one on the world. The aim of education is to contribute to bring up well-educated generations who would be an agent of a “better” world. Fee-paying education system would be resulted in a vicious circle, in which the wealthier would have easier access to knowledge so could easily get a better job, and gain more privileges; and vice versa for the poor. In that manner, fee-paying education system would only contribute to the maintenance of inequality within the society.

In the terms of International students, I believe the country (in specific- UK) would benefit more in the long term, in the case of making the education system free. If the money is eliminated as the basic requirement of the education system, the criteria would be only the knowledge and skills of the student. In that case, UK universities or other education institutions could choose the most suitable student for their programme. And by doing so, I strongly believe that both students and the education institutions would benefit more, and so sure they would appreciate as well! OZLEM

So studying in the uk can be expensive because on the one hand there are high living costs but on the other hand poor exchange rates and a lack of student loan facilities for foreign students? Well, I think education should be expensive! If it is cheap, or free, people don't appreciate it's true value. It is only by charging an arm and a leg that students feel motivated to go to every lecture and try their very hardest. Infact, I think the IELTS course fees need to go up too... maybe Isam will come to class more often then ;-)

And Desert, Patriot and Susan? Was that Poon by any chance???

I think . The british govrnmet has a right to do so ,but it's a bit harsh to charge international student that much. What's more : if we campare British university with others such as Americans, canadians and Asturalians we can see a big difference between them because of a rate of currancy exchange is difference between UK ' Pounds ' and those countries ' dollars ' and don't forget expenses living here especially in the great city of london.

It is only fair that international students pay more for their university education in British universities than British students. These fees can be used to keep the cost of fees for British students down, meaning British people will be more welcoming to international students studying in England. What do you think? ;-)

--- Heather

It is true that students from another countries pay more money for universities and british pupils pay much less money for education. In this debate I partially agree with the point of view. it is fair for international pupils to pay more fee than british pupils because they are from England so it is right to have more benefits than others have.

But the problem is that the cost of fees for universities is very expensive which is almost over three times as much as the fees for british students. Many students can not afford to pay the amout of money. international students just want to be educated by developed countries such as England and to learn many things from well educated professors as well as learing other culture. Many international students think that It is difficult to be balanced between work and studies however they need to work to earn enough money to pay the fees. so it is hard to just concentrate and focus on their studies .They can be disturbed their studies because of the fees.

Therefore in my opinion, it is quite necessory that international students pay more fees for education than british students but universities should cut down the fees for pupils from other countries .

It is not fair that International students have to pay more than British students. Firstly, they have to cover their own expenses on food and housing in a country where the standard of living is expensive . Secondly, they do not receive support from the government as British students have.

British student enjoy the benefits of their government, especially in education, they can apply to university which cover their costs of studying until they finish their careers and then when they start to work they will pay back their spend on education. However, international students do not have necessary documentation and formalities in banks to obtain this benefit.

I think , there should have a reduction of prices and support international students in the same way as British students.

It is a right decision of the UK goverment because the first priority of the British education is for British students.British education is founded by the money from British people. If a person want to study in Britain, they have to pay more than British students.Once intrnational students get a degree, they can get a lot of benefits in their countris. So they deserve to pay more than British students.

It is not sufficient to say that the amont of money from international students can affect for reduction of school fees for British students,it should be added that students from developing countries who are not able to afford to study in the UK because of very expensive education fees for international students. If a student from less developed countries who is very clever, intelligent and hard-working but he does not have enough money to study in Britains, for this student British Goverment should consider to support 100% as a philanthropy for poor countries.I do not think such amount of money can subsidize the school fees for British education. However that amount of money can change the students from developing countries to be outstanding students.

I agree your statement partially. It is true for students from developed countries who are able to obtain same qualification in their countries. For the students from developing countries who want to study high degree in Britain, they should have a chance to study in the UK with home fees because most students from less affluent countries can not afford such amount of money.Even if they get home fees for their studying, they have to struggle with expenditure in accommodation, food and miscellaneous because expenses in Britain is much more expensive than their own countries. It is not sufficient to say that students from less prosperous economies should have as same amount of money for their education in Britain as British students,it should be added that some students from different countries are very hard-working in their lessons, so British education should give more chances to study in advance by giving home fees and other supports. There are many reasons for developing countreis why they are still poor, among them lack of proper education is the one fact. Therefore,British Goverment should give home fees for students from less advanced nations as a humanirarium aids. As you might well-known the UK is one of the wealthiest counries in the world, so the amount of money gained from intrnational students is negligible. As a international student ,I do not think these fees can reduce the course of fees for British students. The UK goverment ought to choose other ways to keep the cost of fees for British students down. For instance, the UK goverment reduce spending on wars and other unnecssaries.
