FCE, CAE & CPE
Cambridge exams are recognised by thousands of educational organisations and employers throughout the world for study and work purposes. They give you practice in using English in a wide variety of contexts, relevant to work, study and leisure activities. Click here for the Cambridge ESOL website.
Our higher level General English courses prepare students for these exams. On joining the college, new students take a placement test to check their level. You are welcome to study on exam courses even if you do not wish to take an external exam. We offer preparation for the following exams:
FCE: First Certificate in English
Take this exam if you want to prove your level of General English is strong Upper Intermediate. FCE exams are offered four times a year (March, June, August & December) and cost about £100.
CAE: Certificate in Advanced English
Take this exam if you want to prove your level of General English is Advanced. CAE exams are offered three times a year (March, June & December) and cost about £100.
CPE: Certificate of Proficiency in English
Take this exam if you want to prove your level of General English is near native-speaker level. CPE exams are offered twice a year (June & December) and cost about £100.

Course Times and Cost
Courses include 21 hours of study per week. This is comprised of 15 hours tuition at the school and 6 hours self study at home, usually 45 minutes per day from Monday to Thursday and 3 hours at the weekend. Classes are held daily from Monday to Friday.. Classes are held daily from Monday to Friday and include a 20 minute tutorial when you can discuss academic issues with your teacher . Course Material is included in the course fees as below, and includes a Coursebook and Workbook, plus a Practice Test Book for FCE, CAE and CPE levels.
* Non UK resident students are classified as students who are applying from outside of the United Kingdom.
** UK resident students are classified as students who are living in the United Kingdom and / or have the necessary documentation to study in the United Kingdom.
After 6 months of study students qualify for the UK Resident Student fees.
Class Size and Attendance Requirements
The maximum class size is 20 and the average class size is 14. You may lose your place in the class if you do not attend 80% of your lessons.
